CHIPS Module 2: Simulation Design

The Center for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Simulation has created a series of modules to serve as simulation professional development opportunities. 

In module 2, "Simulation Design," the best practice strategies for simulation case design are presented. Content includes design strategies for manikin-based simulation case design, Simulated Patient methodology case design and procedural-based case design simulation activities.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • identify the critical elements of simulation case design 

  • implement the needs assessment process prior to case design 

  • create SMART learner objectives/outcomes 

  • discuss factors which impact simulation case design
