Jennifer L Valli, Jennifer Valli, PhD, AASECT Certifed Sex Therapist
Jennifer Valli, PhD, is a seasoned psychotherapist, drawing on 28 years of clinical experience in psychiatry. She is a licensed therapist in Tennessee as a general therapist but also nationally certified as a Sex Therapist through AASECT, The American Association of Sexual Educators, Counselors and Therapists, a rigorous certification in sex therapy. A portion of Valli’s AASECT training was completed with faculty through Johns Hopkins University in the area of paraphilias. She completed a comprehensive post-graduate program in sex therapy at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Valli teaches at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) and is in the Department of Urology, with a secondary appointment in OBGYN. She teaches core curriculum on Sexual Health to medical students and has presented for grand rounds events for Continuing Education Credit multiple times for faculty and residents. She has been an invited speaker for UTHSC's Women in Medicine and Science Speaker Series and for the LGBTQIA in Healthcare speaker series. Her research through UTHSC IRB has been focused on communication about sex between medical providers and patients.
Dr. Valli also serves a small group facilitator for University of Michigan's post-graduate Sexual Health program. She is on the Board of Advisors at Men’s Fitness Magazine and has been quoted in CNN, The Guardian, Contemporary Sexuality, Men’s Health Magazine and Men’s Fitness Magazine. She has had articles in the Memphis Flyer, Good Health Magazine (The Commercial Appeal), and Memphis Health and Fitness Magazine. She is consistently listed as one of the best providers (patient voted) for transgender patients in Memphis through OUT-Memphis, the LGBTQIA community center in Memphis.
