Shawn Hamm, MD, MBA
Dr. Shawn Hamm is the regional medical director for Vertava Health and the program director for the Baptist Memorial Medical Education Addiction Medicine Fellowship program. He attended medical school at the University of Tennessee and did his family medicine residency training at UT in Jackson, TN. He is boarded in both family medicine and addiction medicine, providing him with a sound background in physical health and substance-use disorders of patients of all ages. He was the first fellowship-trained, addiction medicine boarded physician in the State of Tennessee.
Dr. Hamm became dedicated to addiction medicine through seeing the impact of SUD and Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) on close friends, and from experiencing the positive impact that a skilled physician could have on patients with addiction. Dr. Hamm is a skilled clinician and dedicated to developing the most effective system of care for patients with SUD/AUD.
Dr. Hamm serves on the Shelby County Coalition Taskforce for Opioid Treatment Response, as well as the West Tennessee Addiction Network. He is a leader in the Baptist Center of Excellence in Addiction Treatment and a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He also has his MBA.
