Paul Bryan Hill
Dr. Paul B. Hill is a psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of geriatric and medically ill patients in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Hill is on the faculty of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Medicine. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry where he teaches and trains medical students, and supervises residents and fellows. He received the Golden Apple teaching award in Psychiatry in 1991, the Allen Battle Excellence in Teaching Award in 2015, and Faculty of the Year in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Dr. Hill is experienced with a wide variety of issues related to patient care and directing treatment teams in a medical setting.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Dr. Hill attended the University of Memphis and the University of Tennessee College of Medicine (UT) where he served as president of his medical school class. He received expert training in medical and geriatric psychiatry during his residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and has been on the teaching faculty at UT since 1989.
Dr. Hill is board certified in Adult Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine (Consult Liaison Psychiatry) by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is proud to have been in private practice for 20 years with the Memphis Psychiatric Group prior to his current teaching position. He has served as medical director of several psychiatric units and has served on numerous hospital committees. Dr. Hill is also a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Society and The American Psychiatric Association, Council to Geriatric Psychiatry.
Dr. Hill has published articles on various topics in Geriatric Psychiatry and has made several appearances on The Best Times which airs on PBS. He also speaks to groups such as the Alzheimer’s Association, No Whispers, and various care giver organizations.
When he is not teaching or treating patients, Dr. Hill enjoys racquet sports, fitness, and spending time with his family. He is married and has two children and two grandchildren.
