Perinatal Mental Health
This course will provide information about the use of psychotropic medications during the perinatal period. The learner will gain knowledge about initiating, continuing, and discontinuing psychotropic medications during this period.
Target Audience
Health care providers; physicians, advanced practice nurses, nurses, hospital and clinical staff.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this presentation, the learner will be able to:
- Define perinatal mental health
- Identify psychiatric disorders that may exist during the perinatal period
- Describe advantages and limitations of prescribing medications during the perinatal period
- Identify various psychiatric medication treatment options during the perinatal period
