Speaker: Jane Flanagan PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN
Jane Flanagan, Ph.D., RN, AHN-BC, ANP-BC, FAAN, is an associate professor and a Department Chairperson at the Connell School of Nursing. She has appointments as a nurse scientist at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Yvonne Munn Center for Nursing Research and as an associate clinical scientist at the Phyllis Cantor Center at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Jane is an appointed - Volunteer Faculty at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, Tennessee and serves on the Board of Directors for the Sherrill House in Jamaica Plain, Boston, MA. Jane maintains a practice as a nurse practitioner at Fox Hill Village in Westwood, MA.
Dr. Flanagan is the Editor of the International Journal of Nursing Knowledge and Visions in Advances of Nursing Science, the Journal of the Society of Rogerian Scholars. Jane also serves on the Editorial Board for the International Journal for Human Caring. She is an appointed Fellow in NANDA-I, the National Academy of Practice ,and the American Academy of Nursing. She the immediate past President of the Eastern Nursing Research Society (ENRS), and is the Nominations Chair for the Society of Rogerian Scholars. Dr. Flanagan holds certifications as a nurse practitioner and in holistic nursing.
Dr. Flanagan’s scholarship is focused on nursing theory-guided research aimed at facilitating the improvement of the health experience of adults and older adults especially for those experiencing loneliness and chronic health conditions. She has employed Newman's Heath as Expanding Consciousness in her work and mentored students and practicing nurses in the use of the theory in their work.
