CHIPS Module 1: Introduction to Simulation-Based Education
The Center for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Simulation has created a series of modules to serve as simulation professional development opportunities.
In Module 1, "Introduction to Simulation-Based Education," the participant will complete module activities that detail the foundational knowledge of simulation best practices. Both the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice and the Association for Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) Standards of Best Practice will be discussed.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- define simulation-based education
- describe the types of simulation-based education modalities utilized in CHIPS
- identify the various teams operating in CHIPS to assist simulation educators in providing optimal simulation-based education
- recognize the important policies and procedures to consider in the development of your simulation activities in the CHIPS facility.
