The Opioid Crisis: "Prescribing laws, harm reduction, and the role of naloxone" (Live)
It is important for healthcare providers to have a good understanding of how to properly prescribe controlled substances for acute and chronic pain. The state of TN requires education related to this topic for licensure. This course is being provided to help improve knowledge of prescribing laws and harm reduction and to facilitate the best outcomes for patients and prevent misuse. This course will meet the mandatory 2 hours of continuing education related to prescribing controlled substances.

MDs, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Pharmacists, Physician Assistants, Certified Nurse Midwives, Dentists
Learning Objectives
- Describe the current opioid epidemic and its effect on Tennesseans.
- Apply the provisions of Public Chapter 1039 to controlled substance prescribing and dispensing in daily practice.
- Summarize and demonstrate essential patient overdose education elements for community and health care settings.
- Evaluate a model for overdose education and naloxone distribution that is most applicable to various community and practice settings.
