Jackie Carter, RN MSN, CNS is a registered nurse with over 25 years of experience. The first four years were in respiratory nursing. During that time, the population of patients consisted of those with asthma, COPD, pneumonia, and AIDS. In that time the interest in palliative care developed. Participation in-patient care conferences, as well as withdrawal of care conferences help develop an interest in pain management and effective palliative care. Jackie then became a Pain Resource Nurse for LAC+USC Medical Center.  For over fifteen years she helped in the management of pain of patients in both acute crises, as well as chronic, and the terminal ill.  She continues to advocate for patients in pain and educate both staff and patients in the aspects of pain management.
