Dru Carpenter, Assistant District Attorney General
Dru Carpenter obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degrees in History and Political Science from Roanoke College in 2006. She then obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2010. In 2012, she joined the Shelby County District Attorney General’s Office as an assistant district attorney. She has spent the last 7 years assigned to the Special Victim’s Unit which handles physical and sexual abuse cases against children as well as adult sexual assaults.
Ms. Carpenter has tried over 45 jury trials. She was also the assigned prosecutor for the Memphis Sexual Assault Kit Taskforce for 6 years which is tasked with investigating, evaluating and prosecuting cases coming from the backlog of untested sexual assault kits in Memphis, Tennessee. She has also worked to form a Sexual Assault Response Team with local law enforcement and the Shelby County Crime Victims and Rape Crisis Center.Assistant
