James Fountain is currently employed as the Executive Director of Emergency Services at West TN Healthcare in Jackson Tennessee, where he is responsible for the daily operations of the emergency departments at multiple locations, including the healthcare system flagship hospital of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital which is a 57 bed ED with approximately 83,000 visits annually.  A part of his responsibilities as Executive Director of the emergency department is the oversight and administration of the WTH Sexual Assault Nurse Exam (SANE) program.  James was a founding member of the WATCH Healthcare Coalition in 2014, and a founding member of the Tennessee Healthcare Coalition Advisory Council in 2019 and is currently serving as chairman of both coalition groups.  James has work in public safety and healthcare for over 20 years and is very passionate about his work in emergency services.  During his career he has served in a variety of positions including a firefighter/EMT, Fire Chief, and a registered nurse in ICU, ED, and Transfer Center.  James actively serves on numerous emergency and public service boards within the region including Chairman of the Gibson County 911 District, Vice Mayor/Alderman for the City of Milan, Advisory Council for Jackson State and Dyersburg State Community Colleges EMS programs, and Jackson State Community College Nursing program.  He is an adjunct instructor for the Tennessee Fire and Codes Enforcement Academy teaching courses related to emergency management, hazardous materials response, incident command, fire suppression and EMS.  He also is a part-time Emergency Services Management Consultant for the University of Tennessee County Technical Assistance Service to provide technical and management assistance to counties regarding fire protection, emergency management, emergency medical services, and emergency communications.  James has earned an AAS Degree as a Registered Nurse from Jackson State Community College, AAS Degree in Fire Science and Emergency Management from John Wood Community College, a BS in Management and Organizational Leadership from Bethel University, and his MBA in Healthcare Administration from Bethel University.  James currently lives in Milan, TN with his wife Haley, who is a Public Health Nurse, and their 3 children.
