Darell Kiner Jr, MSW
- Darell Kiner, Jr. currently serves as a Violence Intervention Specialist through Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital’s hospital-based violence intervention program, SHIFT. As a member of SHIFT (Supporting and Healing Individuals From Trauma), Darell works directly with families to promote a healthy transition after a member has been impacted by an act of violence. SHIFT works in close partnership with clinical teams to identify and enroll families who qualify for a wide range of wrap-around services that aim to end the cycle of violence and heal its associated emotional wounds. Darell also serves as Executive Director of The Wellness and Stress Clinic, where he leads a team of clinicians, social workers, medical students, PAs and community health workers (CHW) who employ evidence-based practices to improve emotional and physical health in Memphis. During his time at the University of Memphis, he worked as a crisis de-escalator for the Memphis Crisis Hotline and served as President of the Student Social Work Organization. He serves on several boards and committees for area organizations, including The Shelby County Health Department, Community Alliance for the Homeless, and Community Service Agency (CSA). Darell has presented a Lecture on The Minority Stress Model and Structural Stigma: Application to Gender and Sexuality at UTHSC. These personal and professional experiences have brought him a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of the systemic barriers that can often exist between individuals and their life goals. Darell is committed to addressing the social determinants of health and systemic barriers that can prevent holistic healing.Darell holds both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Memphis.
