From Silos to Synergy: Advancing Child Mental Health Through Collaboration

Psychiatric-Advocacy Collaborative Teams Summit (P.A.C.T.S.): Silos to Synergy aims to bring present and future mental health providers and professionals together in a collaborative effort to improve the care and support for youth impacted by adverse childhood experiences. Attendees will participate in a poster session, where they can showcase their research and advancements in the field of mental health. Additionally, the program will feature a keynote speaker who will further elucidate the conference’s mission and inspire providers to collectively address the issues impacting youth mental health. There will also be a panel discussion, offering instructional content, focusing on topics such as justice involved youth and enhancing systems of care.  Lunch will include networking opportunity fostering effective collaboration, continuing the afternoon with more specialized discussions, centered around multiculturalism, with the shared goal of bridging existing gaps in mental health provision.

Learning Objectives

 
Systems of Care: Foundation of Child Mental Health
  • Relate how System of Care approach will assist mental health professionals to provide improved outcomes for patients
  • Formulate plans to establish collaborative teams to assist in management of mental health concerns in youth from a team approach versus only working in silos
Social Justice in Mental Health
  • Identify factors impacting equity in mental health care for youth
  • Explain ways to utilize professional standing to advocate for legislative and procedural change to promote socio-emotional well-being of youth

Desired Outcome

The 2026 Psychiatric Advocacy Collaborative Teams Summit (PACTS) will convene experts and youth to to cultivate a deeper understanding of integrated behavioral health practices, emphasizing cultural competency and humility. 

A key focus of the summit is amplifying youth voices, ensuring that young people are actively involved in shaping the services and support they receive.

By fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing, PACTS 2026 aims to fortify the delivery of care within all communities, addressing existing shortcomings, and rectifying systemic issues that hinder access to mental health services.

Russell Ledet, MD, PhD, MBA, is a physician scientist and triple board resident pediatrician, adult psychiatrist, and child and adolescent psychiatrist at Indiana University.
